Is the eyewear you are selling online authentic?

Yes, we ONLY sell 100% authentic eyewear from the same reputable manufactures/designers we sell at our brick and mortar Shoppe in Richmond, Virginia’s historic Carytown.


I cannot find what I want online, what now?

The eyewear we offer online is only a fraction of what is available. If there is a product/model you need that you can’t find online, please call our brick and mortar store during business hours at: (804) 353-7665.

Can I order just the frame?

Yes, you can buy all eyewear, as displayed, without adding a prescription. (Excluding frames that come with lenses, such as sunglasses.)


How do I get a prescription for glasses?

If you live in the Richmond, Virginia area, you can get a prescription from the eye-doctor’s office located above our brick and mortar store in historic Carytown. (Visit http://www.carytowneyeexams.com/)

Alternatively, visit your local optometrist or ophthalmologist and supply us with your newest prescription.


How often should I have my eyes tested?

Have your eyes tested at least every 2 years to detect underlying health problems with your eyes as well as changes in your vision. Visit your optometrist if you are experiencing any vision problems.


What is the maximum strength of prescription you can fill?

We fill prescriptions with cylinder limits up to -4.00 and sphere limits between -10.00 to +8.00. Please call us during normal shop hours at (804) 353-7665 if you have a stronger prescription.


Do you accept insurance as payment for my eyeglasses?

We don’t bill insurance providers directly, but you can use your receipt when applying for reimbursement.


Can I use my contact lens prescription to order glasses?

No, the prescriptions for contact lenses are different from those for glasses.


How do I order multiple pairs of glasses with different prescriptions?

If you are interested in purchasing multiple pairs using different prescriptions (e.g. for another person, or one pair for distance and one for reading), please complete a separate order for each prescription to ensure accuracy.


Can I add prescription lenses to sunglasses?

Yes, we can add prescription lenses to any of our sunglasses.


Are the lenses included with sunglasses?

Yes, you will receive the original lenses with your sunglass purchase as displayed on our website.


How do I choose the right size frame for my face?

Please visit our Frame Selection help page. For your convenience, we include the eyewear size measurements on the product details pages for each frame. If you need more info, call us during business hours and one of our trained opticians will gladly assist you.


Which eyewear frame suits my face shape?

One rule of thumb is to always contrast the shape of your face with the shape of your eyewear. Also visit our Frame Selection help page. (bottom navigation)


If I made a mistake with my order, what should I do?

If you make a mistake on your order, please call Carytown Optical immediately so we can rectify your order.


What if I need to change my order?

We process orders promptly, so please notify us with any changes as soon as you know you need to make them! We’ll do our best to accommodate any timely changes to your order. Call us at: (804) 353-7665 during business hours.


Do you deliver worldwide?

Yes, we deliver around the globe; see our Shipping & Return Policy.


What happens if my glasses are damaged or lost during shipment?

All our glasses are shipped fully insured.


Is the shipping FREE?

YES, Carytown Optical provides FREE shipping worldwide. UPS will deliver your order using UPS second day air domestically in the United States and we deliver UPS Priority international worldwide. NO CHARGE.


What address must I use to order eyewear?

You must use the shipping address where the eyewear should be delivered. It will be verified by the payment processor.


Can my shipping address be a postbox?

NO, your shipping address must be a physical location with a street address that can be verified by the payment processor"


Can I pay with a credit card?

YES, you can if your shipping and billing address are the same.


Can my shipping address and billing address be different?

YES, if you have a PayPal account you can ship to any address which will be checked by PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, your billing and shipping address must be the same.


What Currency is Used?

All prices on the website is in US Dollars.
